Model code of conduct should be imposed on Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) as its term has already expired, a prominent Sikh leader demanded today. A FAITH trail has been launched in Huddersfield to give locals the chance to explore main religious sites. The one-and-a-half mile pedestrian-friendly route offers an exploration of five local cultural treasures. These are Huddersfield Parish Church on Byram Street, the Methodist Mission on Lord Street, Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Prospect Street, Jamia Usman Masjid mosque on Upper George Street and St Patrick's Church on New North Road. There's nothing democratic about a state dinner, no way to throw open the doors and turn the guest list into a Facebook free-for-all. (Although one wonders, in this age of share-every-detail-as-fast-as-humanly-possible, will there be Twittering between the courses?) A state dinner dazzles -- at least in theory, if not in fact -- because of its exclusivity, its location and its relative rarity.
